Jordan Ellenberg is the John D. MacArthur Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research centers on number theory and algebraic geometry; he has held an NSF-CAREER grant and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, in 2013 he was named one of the inaugural class of Fellows of the American Mathematical Society, in 2015 he was named a Guggenheim Fellow, and in 2018 a Simons Fellow. He is also the author of three books, a novel and two New York Times bestselling books about mathematics. His latest book, published this year, is Shape: The Hidden Geometry of Information, Biology, Strategy, Democracy, and Everything Else.

Bathsheba is a lifelong sculptor with CAD/CAM, making works that span the spectrum of observed, algorithmic, and artistic design. Her main media are 3D printing in steel, subsurface laser etching in optical glass, and just lately kilnformed art glass. She holds a BS in Mathematics from Yale University (1988) and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania (1993), has taught at Pratt Institute and operated a 3D printing service bureau, but mostly works as an independent designer, sculpture retailer, and scientific data physicalizer.
